Ordained since the the 6th of May, 1996 he has has since not only encouraged and preached volunteerism and outreach, but also gone to work to give help to those in need. He has worked in a number of fields, from IT to Law Enforcement to Blacksmithing. This diverse background has allowed him to enjoy many years of service with several different NGO's, Disaster Relief and other Non-Profit Organizations. On the 12th of February 2003, Father Geof was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity for his many years of volunteerism. In April of 2006 he was named a Friar of the Church by the Universal Life Seminary. Father Geof was then confirmed as Abbot of the Maysville Abbey on the 21st of April, 2006. Father Geof Franklin, lives in the lovely Victorian town of Maysville, Georgia with his wife, Barbara, two dogs and seven cats. He owns a small Blacksmith's shop from which he produces useful metal objects and teaches others the joys of metalworking. (http://www.bentmetalforge.com/) Father Geof enjoys a number of hobbies, from Amateur Radio and the Society for Creative Anachronism to Backpacking, Mopeds and Computers. Father Geof is the Abbot of the Maysville Abbey, he heads the Building and Grounds committee, is a member of the Finance committee and is the Founding President of the Order of the Leaf. |
