I have been Ordained since the 6th of May, 1996 and since that time I have encouraged and preached the ideals of volunteer service where ever and when ever needed. My vocation was not started in religion, but in many fields including Information Technology, Law Enforcement and Blacksmithing. I have been very fortunate that regardless of where I worked I was always able to pursue my avocation and work with Non-Government Organizations for disaster relief both in the US and abroad. With a desire to refocus my attention in my local community, the Maysville Abbey was chartered and on the 21st of April, 2006 I was confirmed as Abbot.
My home is in the lovely Victorian town of Maysville, Georgia. My wife Barbara and I, have two dogs and six cats who keep us very entertained. I also have a small Blacksmith's shop where I make a variety of useful metal objects and teach classes on Blacksmithing to beginning hobbyists. I am the current License Trustee for the Maysville Abbey Amateur Radio Club. I hold a General Class Amateur Radio License and was appointed as the Emergency Communications Coordinator for the Banks County Amateur Radio Emergency Service on the 7th of October, 2008. I am also a member of the Northeast Georgia Amateur Radio Club's Volunteer Examiner team and am a Life member of the American Radio Relay League. I am a member in good standing of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). I also hold membership with the American Association Of Wedding Officiants. I hold forty certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for Disaster response and preparedness activities. I hold both Basic and Advanced Storm Spotter Certifications from the Nation Weather Service's Skywarn program. I have earned Letters of Recognition for Animals in Disaster, Incident Management for Schools and Principles of Emergency Management; Departmental Certificates in Disaster Management, Emergency Leadership and Planning, Emergency Management Basics and Emergency Preparedness; and an Associates of Applied Science in Emergency Management from Frederick Community College. In April of 2006 I was named a Friar of the Church by the Universal Life Seminary. I was granted honoris causa a Doctorate of Divinity by the Universal Life Church in 2003. As a member of the President's Citizen Corps, I serve my community as an Instructor for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and serve as a Voting Member of the Banks County Citizen Corp Council. I am also a Notary Public for the County of Jackson in the State of Georgia. |
